Dr Francesca Pantanali is a highly accomplished Specialist Orthodontist and Consultant Orthodontist—one of the highest distinctions achievable in the UK. She currently holds a Consultant post at Eastbourne District General Hospital, where she treats complex orthodontic cases and contributes to the training of postgraduate orthodontic trainees.

Originally from Italy, Francesca qualified in Dentistry at the prestigious Catholic University of Rome. She went on to complete her postgraduate training in Orthodontics in 2000, gaining specialist expertise in treating a wide range of malocclusions. Driven by a passion for clinical excellence and academic advancement, she further pursued a three-year full-time PhD in Orthodontics (equivalent to FTTA in the UK), focusing on the management of complex multidisciplinary cases, including patients with severe dento-facial deformities requiring orthognathic surgery.

With more than two decades of clinical experience, Francesca is recognised for her ability to manage even the most challenging orthodontic cases with precision and empathy. She is well-versed in the latest orthodontic techniques, including aesthetic solutions such as clear aligners (e.g., Invisalign), ceramic brackets, and lingual appliances. Her approach prioritises both functional outcomes and aesthetic goals while minimising discomfort and promoting patient compliance.

Francesca is passionate about transforming smiles—and lives—through tailored, evidence-based care. Her patients appreciate her gentle, thoughtful manner and her ability to explain treatments clearly and reassuringly. Outside of work, Francesca enjoys spending time with her two children and walking her beloved dog. A firm believer in wellbeing and balance, she practices yoga regularly and loves visiting her family in Italy whenever she can. She is also an avid sailor and finds joy sailing along the Mediterranean coast.

In 2007 she achieved another 3 year PHD in Orthodontics (FTTA equivalent) to train multidisciplinary cases and severe dento-facial deformity patients. Her level of expertise allows her to treat a wide range of the most challenging orthodontic cases. She is experienced with the latest techniques in Orthodontics for the best aesthetic outcomes and with the aim of giving patients the less discomfort for a better compliance.

Francesca is passionate in her job, loving to provide beautiful smiles and a life change to her patients. Out of her professional life Francesca enjoys spending time with her two children, walking her dog and doing yoga. She also enjoys travelling to see her family in Italy and going sailing along the Mediterranean Sea.
