Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with problems related to your “bite” or “missing bite.” If you find that your teeth are crooked or misaligned; or you have too many (crowded) teeth in your lower jaw, then you need an orthodontic device called a brace.

This can also be part of a smile makeover.

If you have temporomandibular joint disease (TMJD), you may need oral surgery and braces. Your orthodontist will discuss this further with you. There are many different types of braces, including Invisalign, Damon, Lingual, and 6-month braces. You can think of braces as those unsightly wire devices that only children and teens can wear. However, technology has advanced and more modern types of braces are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. For example, there is an innovative form of braces called “invisible braces” or “Invisalign,” which are clear braces that are comfortable to wear and unobtrusive.

Endodontists typically perform root canal procedures. The most common task for an endodontist is to provide a root canal. To do this, they employ the following steps:

  • To drill into the tooth is considered a dental procedure.
  • It is necessary to remove infected soft tissue.
  • Clear out rivers and canals from the root.
  • Seal the tooth off from further infections.

Partial dentures or dental crowns may be recommended once root canals are performed. This is because dental pain is typically minimal with a root canal.
